Care Guide

Your piece is made from natural solid wood, so it will develop character and shift subtly with light and seasonal humidity. With a few simple habits, you can protect the finish and keep it looking beautiful for years.

Everyday care

  • Dust regularly with a dry microfiber cloth
  • For fingerprints and light marks, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately
  • Clean spills as soon as they happen, especially liquids like water, coffee, wine, or cleaners

What to avoid

  • Standing water or wet items left on the surface
  • Harsh cleaners (bleach, ammonia, degreasers, citrus solvents)
  • Abrasives (magic erasers, scouring pads, powdered cleaners)
  • Silicone or polish sprays, which can leave residue and attract dust
  • Steam cleaning or soaking the wood

Heat + moisture protection

  • Use coasters under all drinks
  • Use trivets/heat pads under hot mugs, lamps, diffusers, humidifiers, and vases
  • Avoid leaving rubber-backed mats or non-breathable items on the wood long-term (they can trap moisture and mark the finish)

Sunlight + natural colour change

  • Woods like walnut will change colour over time with light exposure
  • Rotate décor items occasionally to prevent uneven dark/light areas
  • Reduce direct sunlight when possible

Indoor climate

  • Solid wood naturally expands and contracts with seasonal humidity changes
  • A comfortable home range is typically 35–55% relative humidity
  • Avoid placing furniture directly beside heat vents, radiators, fireplaces, or in drafty areas

Drawer + hardware care

  • Don’t overload drawers; distribute weight evenly
  • Keep grit out of slides (vacuum dust occasionally)
  • If hardware loosens over time, snug it gently and avoid over-tightening

If something happens

For stubborn marks, moisture rings, or any finish damage, avoid experimenting with strong cleaners and reach out. We’ll recommend the safest next step so the finish isn’t made worse.
